About First Contact
Established in 1998, First Contact Activities was born in response to our paragliding students, (who were training at our sister school High Adventure), who wanted alternate outdoor activities on those days when the weather wasn’t suitable for flying. And so First Contact Activities was born, offering activities based on the Solent and the Isle of Wight, including clay pigeon shooting, Bikes, sailing, power boats, Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB’s) and much more. From this small start, First Contact Boat Charters then evolved, as the demand for water based activities increased. Then we found that once people had sampled the delights of being on the water, especially the exhilaration and power experienced from a trip on a RIB, we established First Contact Sea School, an RYA recognised power craft center. We enable people, through the provision of RYA courses, to ensure that individuals can enjoy the sea, safe in the knowledge as to how to keep themselves and their family and friends safe.
As you see, we charter all types of boats and have access to matched yachts, as well as numerous RIB’s and different types of powerboat, to suit the size and requirements of your party.
We also run 30 minute ‘taster’ RIB trips from Yarmouth Harbour to the Needles and back: this experience costs £10 for children and £15 for adults (subject to a minimum number of passengers) or you can charter a RIB privately, just for your group.
